Mbuxx Rekere talks more about his upcoming “Rekere Fest” events

“The producer, whose real name is Mbulelo Majaja, hails from Soshanguve, Tshwane. He is set to host the event on February 15 at 2661, Soshanguve, with an exciting line-up of DBN Gogo, Focalistic, Cowboii, Scott Maphuma, Leemcrazy, Nobantu Vilakazi, Toss and Shaun 101, among others.” His fan base has grown rapidly, and Amapiano star Mbuxx Rekere shares information about his upcoming event, Rekere Fest.

What is it about Cosmopolitan that has you excited to perform there on Sunday?

“First, the crowd, the treatment and the love we get from the people there, owners and promoters of the venue. Another one, it’s because a lot of people from the Johannesburg side wanted me to perform the activation there.

Is it a different process when you’re performing for a specific crowd or venue?

Yes, very different because I have to plan everything, unlike going straight to a show to perform. So I use my networking skills and my closest aides to help me plan it and make it professional.

Tells us more about Rekere Fest and the activation at Cosmopolitan?

“Rekere Fest is an annual celebration of progress in my career and my birthday celebration, teamed up with the biggest labels to give people a huge line-up for the Soshanguve community (were I grew up). The activation at Cosmopolitan is for the people who show me love for performing there and also for the treatment, the love the club showed us the whole of last year. That’s why I’ll give away tickets of my events on Sunday for people from Johannesburg to experience the Pretoria groove.

How do you think your sound will resonate with the crowd at Cosmopolitan?

I am expecting a warm crowd because of the new music I have. They’ll get to hear my new style in production. Just hoping for energetic reactions, same as how I produced the hits.

How many Rekere Fest activations have you put in place?

Cosmopolitan is the main activation for Rekere Fest and there’s another one on Monday at Macnose in Soshanguve, which will be for the people near the venue of the main event.

What can we expect from Rekere Fest and from Mbuxx in the near future?

Expect more of these annual events because that’s how I like celebrating my birthday. I have more new music dropping, more gigs coming and a lot to expect on my socials as Mbuxx.
